Applying for Graduation
Graduation procedures vary by academic department, so be sure to check with your school or college about special requirements. During the semester before graduation, you must do three important things—submit an Online Application for Graduation (OAG) through OSCAR, purchase academic regalia, and RSVP to attend Commencement.
Degree Petitions
Undergraduates must complete the degree petition and submit a departmental or CAPP compliance checklist with their degree petition. Degree petitions for all graduates are found on the Registrar's Degree petition portion of the website, under Degree Information.
RSVP
All graduates, regardless of whether they plan to attend Commencement, must RSVP for the event. Please RSVP by Friday, July 13. For doctoral candidates, please indicate your advisor's name, department, and mail code when completing the RSVP form.
Graduation Status
After the OAG is submitted, you can check your graduation status within DegreeWorks.
If you have any questions regarding your degree candidacy, please contact the Registrar's Office immediately at 404.894.4150.
Commencement E-mails
You will receive informational e-mails throughout your graduating term. These e-mails will contain reminders about term deadlines, Commencement ceremony logistics, and your graduation status. E-mails are sent to your GT account, so please be sure to check your account regularly.
Students' Responsibilities
Due to the large volume of students intending to graduate each semester, it is your responsibility to check your graduation status and to resolve any graduation discrepancies. Please call or visit the Registrar's Office in Tech Tower if you have any questions.
*Please note that all Spring 2012 degree candidates who applied using a paper degree petition, will be required to submit a paper reactivation degree petition for Summer 2012. At that time, those applicants will be converted into the new online system. For further information, please contact the Registrar’s Office.
