We are delighted to welcome parents and other guests to the Georgia Tech Commencement website. We are glad you plan to attend and honor our graduates on this momentous occasion.
Seating Charts
Graduates will be seated on the floor of the Fox Theatre. Video screens will be hung at the front of the stage, enabling those seated in any section of the Fox Theatre to see their graduate as she/he crosses the stage.
Ceremony Logistics
Tickets are not required for the summer ceremony; seating is general and open to the public. Doors will open ninety minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. Depending on your graduate's classification, degree candidates are conferred in the following order: PhD, master's, and bachelor's. The candidates are seated in this order from front to back. The precise location of a given student depends upon the size of the overall graduating class, which varies from semester to semester.
Once your graduate's row of students proceeds to the stage, individual students' names will be called as they cross the stage and shake the president's and dean's hands. If you plan to meet your candidate following the ceremony, please determine a location before the ceremony begins, as no designated area is reserved. Students will be led out the main entrance facing Ponce de Leon Avenue. We encourage families to meet there. There is no dress code, but please wear what you feel is appropriate for a significant occasion such as Commencement.
Commencement is very special for all involved. Please show respect for everyone who has come to share in the experience. Individuals who engage in inappropriate or disruptive behavior will be removed from the event. All cell phones and pagers must be turned off before entering the event facility and must remain turned off throughout the entire ceremony. Please show respect for our graduates by remaining in your seat until the end of the ceremony.
Absolutely no alcoholic beverages are allowed in or around the ceremony area. Anyone violating this code will be removed from the event.
