Caps and Gowns
To participate in the Commencement ceremony, you are required to wear Georgia Tech-approved academic regalia. Caps and gowns must be purchased from the bookstore, Barnes & Noble @ Georgia Tech. Under their gowns, men are encouraged to wear dark trousers and shoes and a shirt with a collar, while women are encouraged to wear dark slacks, a skirt or a dress, as well as low-heeled shoes.
Master's candidates must buy hoods, along with caps and gowns, at the bookstore. You must bring your hood to the line-up area and wear it prior to the beginning of the processional and throughout the ceremony. If you do not purchase a hood, you will not be able to participate in Commencement.
Doctoral students must purchase their caps and gowns at Barnes & Noble @ Georgia Tech; however, their doctoral hoods will be given to them as a gift from Georgia Tech at Commencement. Only caps and gowns purchased through Georgia Tech will be accepted at the ceremony.
Honor Cords and Stoles
Georgia Tech does not provide cords, sashes, or stoles to designate honor graduates at Commencement. However, graduates are permitted to wear these items if given by officially sanctioned Georgia Tech student organizations. You are responsible for obtaining from the student organization any honors accessories to which you are entitled.
Announcements and Class Rings
Balfour produces Georgia Tech Commencement announcements and class rings. Samples of each can be viewed at Barnes & Noble @ Georgia Tech a few months prior to your Commencement date. Generic announcements are appropriate for all degrees and colleges; however, personalized announcements can be custom printed with your name, degree, and major. Please allow three weeks from the date of purchase to receive your personalized prints. Similar to announcements, class rings are available in several styles to compliment your specific preference and taste.

Photography
Guests may use personal cameras and video cameras, but are not allowed on the facility floor for photography purposes during the ceremony.
Professional Photography
Commencement photographs will be taken of each graduate as they are individually congratulated. Photograds.com is pleased to provide this complimentary service as each graduate crosses and exits the stage during the Commencement ceremony.
Complimentary photograph proofs will be mailed to each graduate’s home address within one week of the Commencement ceremony. Please allow seven to ten days for this mail offer to reach your home address. There is no obligation to purchase. Once you receive the photograph offer in the mail, your last name and the customer number provided in this mailing will allow you to view your photograph proofs online.

Flowers
Members of Lambda Sigma will sell bouquets of flowers in the Concourse of Alexander Memorial Coliseum.
Yearbooks
Members of the Blueprint, Georgia Tech’s yearbook, will distribute last year’s editions at Commencement. For information on receiving your graduating class’s yearbook, please contact the Blueprint office.
