The name Ramblin’ Wreck was used in Tech’s earliest years and gained widespread recognition in the 1920s when Tech graduates built makeshift mechanical buggies to improve a poor transportation system in South America.

The Klaus atrium serves as the site for many Georgia Tech gatherings and events. Flooring and paneling consists of reclaimed and recycled materials. Many points awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council dealt with the use of local materials in the building’s construction.
