Electronic Newsletters

The Gold Tower Award for Electronic Newsletters recognizes outstanding work and innovation in digital communications. This category includes e-mail newsletters and other frequently distributed electronic communications. (Publications designed for print and distributed electronically, such as PDF newsletters, should be entered in the Print Communications category.)

Judging Criteria

Judges will review and evaluate each entry based on the following:

  • Does the newsletter meet stated objectives and desired response?
  • Does the newsletter provide engaging and relevant content?
  • Does the newsletter demonstrate an understanding of the defined target audience?
  • Does the newsletter display excellence and creativity in the application of design elements – visuals, photography, illustrations, graphics, typography, color, etc.?
  • Is the newsletter highly functional and focused on the user experience?
  • Does the newsletter demonstrate proper application of unit-level and overall Georgia Tech branding?

Websites and Microsites

The Gold Tower Award for Websites and Microsites recognizes outstanding work and innovation in digital communications. This category includes multi-page websites, individual landing pages, microsites, and other similar online pages.

Judging Criteria

Judges will review and evaluate each entry based on the following:

  • Does the site meet stated objectives and desired response?
  • Does the site demonstrate an understanding of the defined target audience?
  • Does the site provide engaging and relevant content?
  • Does the site demonstrate good structure and navigation?
  • Is the site highly functional and focused on the user experience?
  • Does the site demonstrate proper usability across platforms and browsers?
  • Does the site display excellence and creativity in the application of design elements – visuals, photography, illustrations, graphics, typography, color, etc.?
  • Does the site demonstrate proper application of unit-level and overall Georgia Tech branding?

Videos

The Gold Tower Award for Videos recognizes outstanding work in videos that effectively and creatively communicate a message to a target audience. This category includes individual spots, highlights, documentaries, advertisements, and other similar video communications.

Judging Criteria

Judges will review and evaluate each entry based on the following:

  • Does the video meet stated objectives and desired response?
  • Does the video demonstrate an understanding of the defined target audience?
  • Does the video provide engaging, quality, and relevant content that contributes to a memorable viewing experience?
  • Does the video demonstrate technical excellence in cinematography, lighting, editing, sound design, and audio integration?
  • Does the video demonstrate proper application of unit-level and overall Georgia Tech branding?

Digital Communications and Social Media

The Gold Tower Award for Digital Communications and Social Media recognizes outstanding work, creativity, and innovation in digital communications. This category includes, but is not limited to, social media applications, blogs, digital applications, games, interactive advertisements, etc.

Judging Criteria

Judges will review and evaluate each entry based on the following:

  • Does the project meet stated objectives and desired response?
  • Does the project demonstrate creative ideas and innovative solutions?
  • Does the project demonstrate an understanding of the defined target audience?
  • Does the project provide engaging and relevant content?
  • Does the project demonstrate proper application of unit-level and overall Georgia Tech branding?
