Editorial Excellence

The Gold Tower Award for Editorial Excellence recognizes outstanding work in written communications published in print or electronically. This category includes faculty and staff written features, articles, speeches, blog posts, and other similar short-form written communications.

Judging Criteria

Judges will review and evaluate each entry based on the following:

  • Does the piece meet stated objectives and desired response?
  • Does the piece creatively engage the reader through clear, compelling, and interesting writing?
  • Does the piece demonstrate an understanding of the defined target audience?

Research News Writing

The Gold Tower Award for Research News Writing recognizes outstanding work in written communications that promote Georgia Tech’s research to external audiences and media outlets. This category includes faculty and staff written articles, reports, or other similar documents targeted to the external research, medical, or science news media.

Judging Criteria

Judges will review and evaluate each entry based on the following:

  • Does the piece meet stated objectives and desired response?
  • Does the piece creatively engage the reader and explain complex technical topics through clear, compelling, and interesting writing?
  • Does the piece demonstrate an understanding of the defined target audience?
