FAQs
- Who judges each entry and selects the winners?
- Each entry will be evaluated by a panel of three or more judges. Each panel of judges will include at least one member of the Georgia Tech campus communications community and one communications professional from outside of Georgia Tech. To guard against potential biases, a judge cannot evaluate any entries in a category in which his/her team submitted an entry. Winning entries will be determined by each judging panel.
- How are entries judged?
- Each entry is evaluated according to the category’s judging criteria.
- Who can submit entries?
- Entries are welcome from Georgia Tech staff, faculty, and student employees. Freelancers and outside agencies are welcome to help prepare entries, but the actual entry must be submitted by the Georgia Tech unit.
- When will winners be notified?
- Winning entries will be announced on Thursday, November 17, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the annual Gold Tower Awards reception. More details will be forthcoming this fall.
- How many awards will be given out?
- One Gold Tower Award will be given for each category. Only truly outstanding work will receive an award, and it is up to the judging panel’s discretion whether to give an award. An Award of Excellence (honorable mention) may be given in each category at the judging panel's discretion.
- Can I enter more than one entry per category?
- Yes, you are encouraged to enter any number of qualified projects into a category.
- Can I enter an item into multiple categories?
- Yes, you may enter the same piece into more than one category if the piece meets all the requirements of each category. For example, an invitation used as part of an event can also be submitted individually into the Invitations and Programs category.
- I’m not sure which category to enter.
- We encourage you to review each category description and judging criteria closely to determine the best fit for your entry.
- If a piece/project was created by an outside agency or by another Georgia Tech unit, who should enter it?
- The unit that contracted the piece/project and uses the work for its benefit should submit the entry. Please make sure to list all individuals/agencies involved on the entry form.
- Will I receive feedback/comments about my entry from the judges?
- Yes. We will provide feedback on individual entries via e-mail after the winners have been announced.
- I’m confused and have some questions.
- Please contact Amelia Gambino in Communications & Marketing.
