Techlanta and Tech Square

An extraordinary density of startups. A conglomeration of big-brand corporations. An exceptionally qualified talent pool.

Techlanta and Tech Square

All of the above come together at the technology neighborhood that Georgia Tech built: Technology Square.

Within Tech Square’s eight blocks in Midtown Atlanta, this concentrated combination effectively fuels an ongoing ecosystem of innovation.

This innovation ecosystem is one of the key reasons Georgia Tech easily retains its reputation as a top-10 public research university, maximizing this dynamic interplay of talent, research, and technology transfer.

A Hub of Problem Solvers

A key factor is access to talent — specifically, access to the talent of students, faculty, and researchers at Georgia Tech.”

Within the past two years alone, 17 innovation centers connected to major corporations — such as Anthem, The Boeing Company, Chick-fil-A, and ThyssenKrupp Elevator — have set up shop in Tech Square, serving as solid testimony to Peterson’s point.

Fueling those innovation centers is a constant influx of young and progressive idea-generators and problem-solvers in the form of Tech interns.

These interns are taking advantage of innovation center opportunities that are just a trolley ride away from their residence halls — and recently graduated Yellow Jackets well-equipped and excited about putting their years of collaborative and interdisciplinary training toward creating real-world solutions.

Entrepreneurs Unite

As for the entrepreneurial community, Tech Square provides a wealth of incubation and accelerator support through companies such as the Advanced Technology Development Center and CREATE-X.

Startups also stand to benefit from proximity to other entities at Tech Square — newly hatched or well-established — that they might partner with.

Indeed, it is the density of the assortment of research and technology resources at Tech Square that makes the level of interaction with faculty, labs, students, and each other superlative.

In essence, Tech Square is the embodiment of Georgia Tech’s collaborative, entrepreneurial culture enabling game-changing research that translates into real-life solutions — solutions that turn students into entrepreneurs, startups into success stories, and businesses — small and large — into superior versions of themselves.
