Professor Houston comes to Georgia Tech from Cornell University, where he was the Peter J. W. Debye Professor of Chemistry from 1999-2007. While at Cornell, he also held positions as Chair of the Department of Chemistry (1997-2001) and Senior Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (2002-2005). His research interests include photodissociation dynamics, biomolecular collisions, development of product imaging, and exploration of biofilms.
He received his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1973 and conducted postdoctoral work at the University of California, Berkeley prior to joining the Cornell faculty as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in 1975.
