Georgia Tech’s Enterprise Innovation Institute (EI2) helps companies, entrepreneurs, economic developers, and communities improve their competitiveness through the application of science, technology, and innovation. EI2 is one of the most comprehensive university-based programs of business and industry assistance, technology commercialization, and economic development in the United States. EI2 seeks to redefine the service role for universities and how they support local, state, regional, and national economies. This effort is part of Georgia Tech’s overall goal of defining the technological research university of the twenty-first century. In the future, the ability to develop and apply innovation will drive the success of all types of enterprises, and EI2 will be a source of that innovation.

The Georgia Tech Research Corporation (GTRC) advances research and technological development at Georgia Tech as it continually seeks to advance society and the global competitiveness of Georgia and the nation. GTRC supports and promotes research through its stewardship of the funds for sponsored research and financial support of research activities. GTRC embodies Georgia Tech’s founding spirit of entrepreneurship and focus on the applications of engineering, science and technology to the creation of meaningful new ideas, methods, and opportunities. Through technology transfer, GTRC enables the institute to maintain beneficial partnerships with public and private sectors in research and technology, assuring that the benefits of discovery are widely disseminated.

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is a highly regarded applied research and development organization. Since 1934, GTRI’s science and engineering expertise has been used to solve some of the toughest problems facing government and industry across the nation and around the globe. With nearly 1,600 employees, GTRI redefines innovation by tackling customers’ most complex challenges with the right mix of expertise, creativity, and practicality. The organization is headquartered on the Georgia Tech campus in Midtown Atlanta, with much of its problem-solving research taking place in eight dynamic research laboratories found on and off the main campus, in a number of field offices located around the nation and in its international location in Ireland.

The Georgia Institute of Technology is home to nearly 200 different research centers and laboratories—an integral part of the entrepreneurial culture at Georgia Tech. Among these units are a number of large Interdisciplinary Research Institutes, reporting to the Executive Vice President for Research. Each institute brings together a unique group of researchers—spanning colleges, departments, and individual labs—around a single core research area. The institutes exist to create transformative opportunities, strengthen collaborative partnerships and maximize societal impact of the exciting research being done at Georgia Tech.
