Georgia Tech has been invited to nominate scientists for The Crafoord Prize in Geosciences 2014. The prize, worth roughly $600,000 USD, is awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and recognizes "a scientist(s) who has fundamentally increased our understanding of the planet Earth, its evolution and the evolution of life."
This is not a limited submission but the application process is somewhat complex and highly confidential; nominators may not inform nominees of their proposals at any time, unless the nominee wins the award. For that reason, anyone who is interested in submitting a nomination should contact Gail Spatt (404.385.8334 or spatt@gatech.edu) by Friday, March 29, 2013 so she can pass on all of the relevant information. Nominations are due by Monday, April 15, 2013.
