Georgia Tech has received an invitation from Technology Academy Finland to submit nominees for the prestigious Millennium Technology Prize. All nominations are due by July 21, 2013.
The Millennium Technology Prize has only been awarded to six people and recognizes "life-enhancing technological innovation that has a positive impact on the quality of life, both now and in the future." Nominees may come from any field of technology except military technology. The prize is worth approximately $1 million euros and the call for nominations highlights the following:

"Firstly, an innovation must have a beneficial influence on the largest possible number of people while promoting sustainable development.

Secondly, as the Millennium Technology Prize is designed to encourage further cutting-edge research and development, it is not intended as a reward for lifetime achievement."
