There is no current STC solicitation. When the next solicitation is released, this page will reflect the relevant updates. For planning purposes, EVPR office instructions to the campus from the last solicitation appear below:
The Science and Technology Centers (STC): Integrative Partnerships program supports innovative, potentially transformative, complex research and education projects that require large-scale, long-term awards. STCs conduct world-class research through partnerships among academic institutions, national laboratories, industrial organizations, and/or other public/private entities, and via international collaborations, as appropriate. They provide a means to undertake significant investigations at the interfaces of disciplines and/or fresh approaches within disciplines. STCs may involve any areas of science and engineering that NSF supports. STC investments support the NSF vision of advancing discovery, innovation and education beyond the frontiers of current knowledge, and empowering future generations in science and engineering. See the solicitation for full details: http://nsf.gov/pubs/2011/nsf11522/nsf11522.htm.
An institution may submit no more than three (3) preliminary proposals as the lead institution. The NSF preliminary proposal deadline is Monday, May 30, 2011 by 5:00 p.m. Since there is a limit on the number of preliminary proposals Georgia Tech may submit, please submit a five-page (5-page) summary of your proposal to the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research (EVPR). A faculty committee will recommend to the EVPR which proposals they feel would best represent Georgia Tech. Please submit your pre-proposals electronically by Monday, March 14, 2011, to research@carnegie.gatech.edu.
