We encourage all those who have event coordination responsibilities, or those who are interested in expanding their skills, to register for our upcoming workshop. However, we know that departments’ budgets may still be strained and professional development monies limited, prompting you to show a return on investment for your supervisor. Not to fear – once you provide your supervisor with the reasons you should attend outlined below, he or she will wonder why you didn’t ask to attend sooner.

When planning and executing an event, it is easy to overlook some of the simpler items.  In this post, I wanted to highlight a few simple actions that event planners should make a habit at all of their events but are easy to neglect.

As one of the Institute’s most high-profile annual events, Homecoming brings alumni back to campus for reunions, open houses, tailgates, and other events enabling us to showcase all that makes Georgia Tech unique. Every year we receive a number of calls asking us about various events happening around campus most of which we are unaware of. In an effort to better serve alumni and promote your events, we hope you will help us in the creation of a "one stop"online schedule of events at http://www.gthomecoming.gatech.edu/events where alumni can access information about all Homecoming events, whether sponsored by the Alumni Association, Athletics, colleges, departments, students, etc.

An important part of planning any Georgia Tech event is keeping “Georgia Tech” in the event. This can include logos, official fonts, Institute representations, etc. Many of us plan events on Tech’s campus, which of course makes this portion of our jobs much easier. But, for those who plan events outside campus, how do you keep “Georgia Tech” in your off-campus event?
