Special Events and Protocol Services
President G. P. "Bud" Peterson at Commencement

Special Events & Protocol, located within Institute Communications, is responsible for the execution of high-level, Institute-wide events, including: Commencement, Faculty/Staff Honors Luncheon, Student Honors Luncheon, Retirement Dinner, When the Whistle Blows, and other large-scale lectures, dedications, inaugurations, and milestone events. In addition to event management, execution, consultation, and production of training materials/resources, Special Events & Protocol advises campus colleagues on Institute protocol, from addressing the President and other dignitaries, to correct usage of marks and other components relating to the Institute’s visual identity. The office serves as a resource to all campus partners who endeavor to produce excellent events.

While the Special Events & Protocol Team aims to manage large-scale campus events, we are also available to provide varying levels of consultation and assistance for all employees needing event planning support. We welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with all our campus partners and, from there, will determine the level of support for each on a case-by-case basis. Contact us during any phase of your event coordination process to ensure you produce a high-quality, effective event.

In addition to providing consultation, Special Events & Protocol also produces a variety of resources to serve campus colleagues’ event planning needs. We encourage all campus partners to do the following:

  • Readily use this website and all its sample resources as you create your memorable events.
  • Bookmark our weekly event blog filled with timely campus and industry-related event material.
  • Sign up to receive our quarterly newsletter, which includes in-depth articles and tips, as well as showcases excellent Georgia Tech events and the planners responsible for them.
  • Ask about our inventory of supplies and recommended, approved vendors to create the final touches at your event.
