CENTER FOR QUALITY GROWTH & REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Guiding Atlanta's Smart Growth
The Center for Quality Growth and Regional Development is a research center to study metro Atlanta as a living
laboratory for mixed-used development and related issues. As the home of the Center, Georgia Tech has the opportunity
to serve as the nexus of intellectual expertise and community resources for a field vital to the city's future. The
Center for Quality Growth and Development is a perfect fit for Technology Square, because the multi-building project
will play an important role in revitalizing the Midtown area.
Technology Square also includes the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center, the College of Management,
the Global Learning and Conference Center, and other facilities. Because the Center holds routine meetings, workshops, conferences, and
continuing education courses, the proximity to these facilities is important to its active program of outreach and research
dissemination.
The Center is a focal point, a think tank, and a catalyst to bring together the expertise and resources to
develop smart solutions to growth problems in the Atlanta region. By joining forces with the public and private sectors,
non-governmental groups, and researchers, the Center can focus on critical transportation, land use, air quality, water
resources, and quality of life issues in a comprehensive manner. In the process, the Center can create and promote a new
vision that could provide long-term solutions not just for Atlanta but for other regions as well.
Georgia Tech has accepted a leadership role in making the Center a reality, helping to bring about innovative,
participatory, and effective plans and developments that promote economic efficiency, environmental quality, and social equity.
