COLLEGE OF MANAGEMENT

Taking Business Education to New Horizons

The new home of the College of Management at Technology Square is the physical manifestation of a vision for the future—making the College one of the best technologically focused business schools in the nation. This vision can become reality; the College of Management is in a position to create a new standard.

"As we contemplate this new home for the College of Management, we know our greatest excitement is not for the new building itself. We are most excited about the opportunity it offers for a boundless new vision. This bricks and mortar story is really about the heart and soul of the College. It will allow us to expand our imaginations with our ideas and dreams that have been locked away for lack of space."
Terry C. Blum
Dean and Tedd Munchak Chair

The best of the College—its students, faculty, and staff—will remain at the heart of the program. The new location is a natural setting for exploring synergies between management and technology. Management students will be exposed to developing businesses on the leading edge of commerce and gain access to the latest learning tools. Students will attend classes around the corner from companies where they will find fulfilling and challenging internships, co-op jobs, and careers.

The Midtown Atlanta business community already includes BellSouth, the Federal Reserve Bank, Turner Broadcasting Company, EarthLink, and Equifax. The neighborhood promises to continue to grow as a vibrant place to live and work, and the presence of Georgia Tech's business school will greatly enhance the intellectual environment in this extraordinary community. The new location will reaffirm the College's commitment to vigorous, relevant programs and allows it to take a great leap forward. The College will be able to:

  • Phase in growth to double the size of its M.B.A. program
  • Increase the number of executive programs
  • Increase the number of faculty and services to support program growth
  • Create stronger business ties
  • Provide access to quality facilities for executive and continuing education
  • Offer more classes to non-management students
  • Explore new interdisciplinary programs with other Tech colleges and schools

In its new home, the College of Management will harness and blend advanced technology throughout the curriculum. Common classroom activities will include interactive polls, electronic discussions, access to network resources, and videoconferencing. Features of the new building include:

  • A high-speed digital and wireless network
  • "Smart" podiums in each classroom
  • The latest multimedia and distance learning equipment accessible in each classroom
  • Whiteboards, rather than traditional blackboards, that can electronically save and archive content

This new building will allow the College to fulfill its mission of excellence in the functional areas of business and respond to important and timely issues on Georgia Tech's agenda— issues like technology entrepreneurship and commercialization, management of change and innovation, financial performance and analysis, managing the extended value chain, enterprise globalization, and international finance. These are the areas where the College of Management can truly excel.
