A University Committed to the Professional Growth and Development of Its Faculty and Staff

We have co-op, internship and work/study abroad opportunities for students, why not for faculty and staff as well? Perhaps the first year you are a staff person at Georgia Tech, you enroll in a curriculum of sorts, where you have an internship your first year, abroad experience in either another GT location or peer/aspirational institution your second year, and various other experiential opportunities for your 3-5 years.

This would be optional, but I feel could be a way to enhance skills and give individuals an opportunity to build relationships outside their parent department. This will help retain our best employees, raise their morale and help us give back to our faculty and staff, allowing them to become the best they can be with Georgia Tech. We do a great job educating our students for the 21st century - why not our talented staff and faculty?

Good idea, except... (I'll skip the rant). If you aren't faculty you don't count.

I love the idea of mixing professional development and an experiential exposure to different departments and campuses.
