Strategic Planning Themes
Establish and Use Best-in-Class Administrative and Business Practices and Processes
- Establishing Georgia Tech as a smoothly running, highly efficient education, research, and economic development enterprise (mapping/reengineering Georgia Tech business processes)
- Creating streamlined, simplified processes, a standardized, centralized infrastructure, and substantially reduced operating costs.
- Continued improvements in shared governance and in adoption of appropriate administrative/business practices, developing the most effective and efficient financial and operational models.
- Examine business processes that are not key elements of Georgia Tech's competitive position for standardized and centralized processes, including finance, accounting, payroll, and other back office processes, as well as HR, IT, and other cross-unit processes.
- Processes such as recruiting, selection, retention, promotion, development to be supported by central processes — for instance, graduate admissions is currently not well-supported, so Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and the College of Computing have all built their own computer tools to manage.
- Academic leadership participation in business decisions.
- Develop a more integrated administrative structure/approach to doing business.
