Bachelor's Degree Programs

Georgia Tech offers more than 35 undergraduate majors and more than 55 minors, with degree options in virtually every science- and engineering-related discipline, as well as technology-focused degrees in areas such as business, public policy, sports, pre-professional, and more. Our undergraduate degree programs take a multidisciplinary, collaborative, and global approach to education that stresses innovation and problem solving, with the majority of classes taught by experienced professors.

College of Architecture

Bachelor of Science in Architecture

Focus: preparing students for graduate-level study in architecture, for graduate study in related fields, or a variety of careers related to architecture, the building industry, or government service.

Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design

Focus: preparing students for a career in design practice as well as for graduate education in industrial design, the professional practice of creating products or enhancing the function, usability, value, and appearance of products with the goal of benefiting the user, manufacturer, community, and environment.

Focus: providing students with both a hands-on and theoretical knowledge of computing as well as an understanding of visual design and the history of media.

Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering

Focus: providing students with a general background for either employment in industry or government laboratories, or advanced study in graduate school at the end of four years. The program stressing the theoretical, experimental, and design aspects of aerospace engineering.

Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering

Focus: integrating the life sciences and engineering and applying the results of that integration to the field of medicine.

Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

Focus: providing the basics of biomolecular engineering while allowing flexibility for the student to pursue other areas of chemical engineering such as microelectronics, materials, and the environment.

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering

Focus: providing a curriculum that allows graduates to enter professional practice as a civil engineer or to continue studies leading to advanced degrees in related disciplines such as construction engineering and management, environmental engineering, environmental hydraulics, geotechnical engineering, hydrology, materials, structural engineering and mechanics, transportation, and water resources planning and management.

Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering

Focus: providing a curriculum that emphasizes digital design, computer architecture, computer networks and internetworking, and computer applications.

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

Focus: engineering analysis and design concepts with sufficient flexibility to incorporate the study of areas such as analog electronics, bioengineering, computer engineering, systems and controls, microsystems and nanosystems, electronics packaging, digital signal processing, optics and photonics, electrical energy, electromagnetics, and telecommunications.

Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering

Focus: providing students with the fundamental knowledge of scientific disciplines and engineering principles that are used to address emerging environmental issues such as sustainable air, water, and land resources; human health; and environmental restoration.

Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering

Focus: blending mathematics, physical sciences, and business applications to form a program of study built on probability, optimization, statistics, computing, economics, and psychology.

Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering

Focus: combining traditional instruction in ceramic, metallurgy, and polymer and fiber science and engineering with modern materials including nano-, bio-, composite, electronic, and optical and magnetic materials.

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Focus: educating students in the use of basic mechanical engineering principles to reach optimal design solutions for engineering problems.

Bachelor of Science in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering

Focus: providing students with the basic principles of nuclear engineering, nuclear reactor core design, reactor systems engineering, nuclear power economics, reactor operations, radiation sources and detection instruments, radiation transport, radiation protection, criticality safety, regulatory requirements, and radioactive materials management.

Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics

Focus: training students in the traditional core mathematics curriculum as well as in its applications, providing sufficient flexibility to accommodate the wide variety of interests of undergraduate majors while also preparing students for the extensive employment opportunities for applied mathematicians.

Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics

Focus: preparing students for entry into industry or government through an emphasis on the applications of physics, while also offering preparation for further professional training in fields such as medicine, law, dentistry, and business.

Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry

Focus: ensuring a strong foundation in the chemical and biological sciences while also providing the flexibility for students to tailor the curriculum to satisfy specific interests or goals, including careers in research, teaching, or in a life/health science profession (medicine, pharmacy, or dentistry).

Bachelor of Science in Biology

Focus: preparing students for employment in academia, government, or industry; for graduate studies in the biological sciences or science teaching; or for admission to medical, dental, or veterinary schools, all in the context of a systems approach to solving biological problems.

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry

Focus: preparing students for careers in industry or government in such diverse fields as forensics, nanoscience, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals; or for continuing their education in the chemical or biological sciences, or in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, and law.

Bachelor of Science in Discrete Mathematics

Focus: providing students with the methods of discrete mathematics, which are essential when computer algorithms are analyzed, transportation networks or communications systems are designed, or when optimal schedules are sought.

Bachelor of Science in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences

Focus: going beyond traditional degrees in meteorology and environmental sciences to provide hands-on experiences in the collection and interpretation of environmental data and in predictive modeling.

Bachelor of Science in Physics

Focus: providing a strong background in mathematics and the physical principles of mechanics; electricity and magnetism; thermodynamics; and quantum theory that govern physical phenomena at the microscopic level of molecules, atoms, and nuclei.
