Scheller Lunchtime Live: Servant Leadership - From the Georgia Tech Football Field to the Board Room and Beyond

Scheller Lunchtime Live is a livestream series hosted by the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business featuring faculty, student, and alumni speakers discussing relevant topics for the tech-driven, digital age. 

In this talk, Dr. Kofi Smith, Georgia Tech B.S. Industrial and Systems Engineering and Executive MBA alum, will discuss how adopting a servant leadership approach took him from the football field of Georgia Tech to the board room and on to becoming an entrepreneur running a multi-million-dollar business. Drawing on his life experiences, Smith will provide definitions of what it means to be a servant leader and share ways to adopt this leadership ideology.

About Dr. Kofi Smith  

 Dr. Smith served as president & CEO of the Atlanta Airlines Terminal Company (AATC) from 2010 to December 2020 leading the strategic direction and management of all building operations and facility maintenance responsibilities for the world’s most traveled airport, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. He managed more than $945M in operations and approximately $650M in capital improvement projects during his tenure. He grew AATC’s employee base by 114%, creating more positions and employment opportunities for Atlanta residents. In 2021, Dr. Smith launched his own company, Keystone Management, LLC. He currently has operations in four cities across four different states. 

 Dr. Smith is a graduate of Leadership Georgia, Leadership Atlanta, and the Regional Leadership Institute. He serves as vice chair to the boards of Goodwill of North Georgia and the National Black Child Development Institute. He is also a trustee for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation and the Youth Service Fund Foundation for the Rotary Club of Atlanta. He is also on the Advisory Board to the President of Georgia Tech. 

 He holds an B.S. degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and an MBA in Global Business from Georgia Tech, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Georgia State University.
