Lessons Learned and Challenges in Developing and Deploying Modern Robotics Systems for High Mix Low Volume Operations

Abstract: Titan Robotics, Inc. is an advanced robotics manufacturing startup originating from research conducted at Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU) National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) on coordinated autonomous mobile robotics for large-scale industrial applications. This presentation will primarily cover Titan’s work in developing and deploying modern robotics systems for aerospace applications with high mix low volume workloads requiring flexibility for variations in processes and parts. The lessons learned and the challenges faced in the development and deployment of these robotics systems will be highlighted, along with offering perspective on where the emerging technology and industry is headed.  Attention will also be given to the aspects and experience of being a startup in the space.
